GRESIB Virtual Seminar
"The linguistic vs. sociocognitive nature of expressive pragmatics: what is it about in the preschool years?"
Day: Friday, November 24
Time: 17h
Location: Zoom Platform
Postdoctoral researcher Mariia Pronina, from the Sociolinguistic Research Group of the Balearic Islands, GRESIB, impartirà el seminari virtual "The linguistic vs. sociocognitive nature of expressive pragmatics: what is it about in the preschool years?"
Pragmatics, the ability to use language socially, involves both the linguistic and social aspects of human communication. The human development literature has explored the interplay between pragmatic, structural language, and children's social cognition skills. However, attention has largely focused on receptive pragmatic domains and verbal and non-multimodal language. We know much less about the acquisition of expressive pragmatics and its relationship to multimodal language (ie, prosody and gesture).
We will review a series of studies that explore expressive pragmatic skills during the first years of preschool education (3-4 years), in relation to social cognition and language, both structural and multimodal, using different descriptive, correlational and formative approaches . We will try to provide information about the architecture that develops pragmatics and answer the question about the cognitive state of expressive pragmatic ability.

lecture: Strategies and resources to plan orality
Day: Thursday, November 23
Time: 10.30h
Place: Assembly hall of the Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos building
Professor Irene Yúfera, from the University of Barcelona, will give the titled conference Strategies and resources to plan orality.
The planned orality in academic fields, to be effective, requires a systematic and meticulous prior work both in relation to the contents that will be discussed and in terms of the way in which the speech will be presented. These two levels of the planning of the orality, that is to say, the content and form of a formal oral presentation are not independent, but closely related.
The conference is designed and focused for the students of Oral and Written Expression Techniques of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, but may be of interest to any student or teacher.
This activity is part of the IRIE innovation project number PID222415: Oral presentation in the university classroom: a professionalizing and transversal didactic approach.
