Arriving in August, it's time to say goodbye to the course. For the second year in a row, we are doing so in extraordinary circumstances and with more desires than uncertainties regarding the conditions we will have to face next year.
Now, however, we want to look with optimism at the weeks ahead, and we hope that they will serve to reward the whole group of very demanding months, which have asked us for the best of each of us. Despite the prominence of the pandemic, thanks to the efforts of teachers, families and students, we have been able to overcome this new challenge.
We hope that all people who are part of the world of education can enjoy a well-deserved holiday, that although we have shown that we are able to deal with the most unexpected situations, we should not get used to the exceptional and that we may soon return to the longed-for "normality."
La Federation of Associations of Families of Students of Mallorca (FAPA) has just made public the results of the second edition of the survey of families who already completed after the first term, in order to know how students' families value semi-attendance.
The report they present now, prepared by the research group Education and Citizenship, from the IRIE, collects the results of the second quarter and assesses the evolution of the situation, collects the most significant data and launches proposals for the future.
54,8% of the families that have made up the sample have a university degree or higher and only 15% live in a situation of unemployment or ERTO.
Other factors that have been assessed are the mood of students and families, the particular case of students with special educational needs, the academic results resulting from this situation, etc.
As for the results, the recovery of the role of the family in the education of children and young people is observed, in contrast to the trend of the years before the pandemic. In addition ... «the data clearly confirm the inability of remote education to fill, with a minimum of quality, the meeting space between teachers and students as a central element of the teaching process- learning, or to alleviate its negative effects on students, both emotionally and academically »
