Since last September 1, it is no longer possible to download the old Mendeley program, Desktop, although you can continue to use it if you already had it downloaded. However, Mendeley now lets download Reference Manager, which we recommend you start using in the future, as it is possible that Desktop will undergo a permanent shutdown in the future. Also, the plugin used in Word to cite and insert bibliography has also changed, and is now called Mendeley Cite. Both programs have all the functionalities of the previous ones and offer new possibilities.
Given this situation, you may want to install and start using the new software. Whether this is the case or you want to start using Mendeley from scratch, the UIB Library and Documentation Service puts at your disposal a series of very useful materials, recommended both for beginners in Mendeley in general and for those people who only know the previous version.
First of all, they have a very comprehensive guide to using Mendeley, which includes documentation and video tutorials for getting started with the program, entering references and documents, organizing your information, and citing and bibliography.
In addition, they offer a free self-training course, which can be taken at any time of the year online and at your own pace. So you can learn everything you need while practicing with applied exercises. You can find more information on the following links: course in Catalan / course in Spanish.
Finally, we would like to remind you that, if you are a member of the university community, you can contact the Library and Documentation Service and request group sessions to learn about these tools and resolve any doubts you may have.
