Summary

The problem of drug use frequently begins during adolescence. Mary Valero's doctoral dissertation of Vicente emphasizes the importance of reviewing evidences on the effectiveness of selective family intervention, checking the inclusion of the gender perspective in family prevention, examining the differential efficiency of family programs based on gender, and evaluating the results of the family competence program in search of specific profiles based on family dynamics.

This thesis shows that family intervention is effective to improve family dynamics and positive parenting.

Dr. Valero proposes the need to make an effort to homogenize the methodologies of preventive programs in order to be able to establish valid comparisons and more complete studies on their effectiveness.
