Professor of the Department of Specific Pedagogy and Didactics is incorporated into the Social Sciences and Philosophy Section

The plenary session of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans has agreed to incorporate Dr. Francisca Comas Rubí, Professor of Theory and History of Education at the University of the Balearic Islands, as a future member of the Philosophy and Social Sciences Section.

Francisca Comas Rubí is currently the director of the Department of Pedagogy and Specific Didactics. Previously, he has been the Vice -Dean of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Education and Deputy Director of the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE) and the Institute for Educational Research and Innovation (IRIE).

She is the lead researcher of the Study of History of Education (IRIE-UIB). He has focused his research on the history of education in contemporary times.

His first books include: Melcior Rosselló i Simonet, Master (1997); The consolidation of the liberal education system in Mallorca: the contribution of Francesc Jaume Riutort i Feliu (1812-1885) (2001); Writings on Science, Gender and Education (2001), with Margarita Comas and José Mariano Bernal; ROSA ROIG. Biography of a pedagogy, 1890-1969 (2001), with M. Isabel Miró; Educational travel and educational renewal. The relations of the JAE (Board for the Extension of Studies) with the Balearic Islands (2007).

She has directed, as a lead researcher, five R&D projects: three on photography as a source for the history of education, a change and continuity in school practice, and one last on public history of education. The results of these projects have been published in magazines such as Paedagogica Historica , History of Education & Children's Literature (HECL), Education and History , History and Memory of Education , Magazine of Education , Social and Education History (HSE), Spanish Magazine of Pedagogy and Lusófona Magazine , among others.

She has been the publisher, among others, of books: The Annexa School. 175 years of practical training of teachers in the Balearic Islands (1835-2010) (2010) with J. Oliver; The Graduate School of Palma. One hundred years learning (1912-2012) (2012); The photographic sources in the history of education (2017), with B. Sureda, X. Motilla, S. González and G. Barceló; and Media Matter. Images as present, Mediators and Means of Observation (2021), with Karin Priem and Sara González.

She is currently the Vice President of the Society of History of Education of the Catalan Language Countries and the Spanish Society for the Study of Historical-Educational Heritage.
